Patriot Guard Riders (PGR) Help on the Homefront (HOTH)

HOTH is devoted to helping the Heroes and families here at home. We are open to a wide variety of projects.

Patriot Guard Riders
Help On The Homefront Vision Statement

"It is the intention of the Patriot Guard Riders (PGR) to proactively assist active duty military personnel and veterans of America’s armed forces who have needs that have not been addressed by other programs. Help On The Homefront (HOTH) is devoted to helping these Heroes and their families through a wide variety of projects. This statement by the National Board for the PGR outlines the intention to augment the PGR mission as written. The PGR wishes to serve all Heroes who need us while continuing its core mission of honoring those who have made the ultimate sacrifice. The PGR will strive to assist those actively serving and honorably discharged from military service to the United States of America. The PGR’s commitment also extends to Gold Star families. The PGR’s promise to always be there for them will not be compromised."

Resounding support and good will has already been generated by HOTH efforts to date. We are honored to expand on those efforts and believe that even partial achievement of our short term goals listed below will result in a great deal of assistance and comfort to our veterans. So with the projected improvement in the lives of veterans in mind, the PGR feels that it must now press forward with the expansion of HOTH efforts.

We will do this by:

1. Designating a HOTH Coordinator in each state to communicate effectively between the State and National levels. In the absence of a HOTH Coordinator the State Captain will assume those duties.

2. Ensuring thorough vetting of each request (financial or otherwise) from a veteran in need. Each request will be handled on a case by case basis and will be decided on the merits and degree of need apparent in each situation.

3. Developing a state level plan to establish and maintain an active PGR presence at VA Hospitals and Veterans Nursing/Retirement Homes.

4. Assisting organizations dedicated to building, repairing, remodeling, or otherwise acquiring homes exclusively for veterans and active duty personnel.

PGR will not abandon or weaken the response to the core mission of conducting Honor Missions in support of the funerals of fallen Heroes or veterans who have honorably served in America’s military.

The good will of long established Veteran Service Organizations is important to the PGR. Therefore, we will endeavor to never infringe or intrude upon the veteran assistance programs already available through established VSOs. Rather, it is the PGR’s intention to render assistance whenever possible to all organizations actively engaged in improving the lives of our nation’s wounded, homeless or needy veterans and their families.

It is the hope of National PGR that some members who are unable, for whatever reason, to participate in Honor Missions at funerals may find it possible to participate in HOTH missions.

With the support of dedicated PGR members, state and federal agencies, and with the cooperation and assistance that can only come from well established VSOs the PGR HOTH program will serve the veteran community and our troops well.

It should be understood that PGR, including the PGR HOTH program, will always strive to observe any and all OPSEC/PERSEC guidelines when disseminating information. PGR will never knowingly jeopardize the safety and security of the men and women we serve.

Following are some examples of legitimate HOTH missions. They are not listed in any order of priority. CAUTION: The HOTH program is, by definition, fluid in nature. There will be questions that arise. Those questions should be addressed to the Utah HOTH Coordinator.
